Measured results from the South Fulton pilot

Talk Tech With Chet has been delivered as a structured community program with the City of South Fulton. This is what the pre- and post-program assessments found, and how to read it.

Measured in the community

What happened when we ran the program with the City of South Fulton.

Two cohorts of older adults completed Talk Tech With Chet as part of a City of South Fulton program. Here is what the pre- and post-program assessments measured.

3.34 → 4.21

average self-reported confidence across seven assessed skills

Participants rated their own confidence before and after the program. The pilot was small and does not establish that all future Talk Tech With Chet participants will experience identical outcomes.

11.95 / 12

average objective knowledge score, unchanged before and after

Participants began with exceptionally high objective knowledge, creating a ceiling effect on this measure — there was very little room for the score to rise. The change the pilot did show was in self-reported confidence.

How this was measured

Participants completed the same assessment before the program began and again after it finished. The assessment had two parts: a self-rating of confidence across seven everyday digital skills, and a set of knowledge questions with objectively correct answers.

Average self-reported confidence rose from 3.34 to 4.21. The objective knowledge score was 11.95 out of 12 both before and after — participants arrived already answering nearly every question correctly, which left almost no room for that score to rise. Statisticians call this a ceiling effect, and it is the reason a flat result there is not a disappointing one.

This was a small pilot of 20 participants across two cohorts. The results describe this specific implementation and should not be assumed to predict outcomes for every future participant or community. It was not a randomized controlled study, it has not been clinically validated, and it is not a national standard. We publish it because it is what we have, described accurately.
